1. The first look truly is a special moment for just the two of you.
Umm, and your photographer should most definitely be there too capture the moment. 😉
It’s really important that you’re able to enjoy this moment. It’s your wedding day and after all it’s about the two of you and your amazing love story. As hard as it may be, let your wedding party and family know to kick up their dancing shoes for a moment so that you two can fully enjoy this moment together… without them.
Once that’s done, it can be truly one of your first intimate glimpses at your soon-to-be spouse without feeling the pressures of how to react.
2. Schedule the first look into your day!
This is one of those moments that you’re not going to want to attempt to “fit” into a 10 minute time slot. I’m serious about this one too. Plan ahead so you can enjoy the moment, unrushed and unscripted.
You will want at least a solid 20-30 minutes. Your wedding day will go by so fast; these are the moments I’ll help you slow down and enjoy.
3. Positioning is key!
Having one person in place first, is always key. That person need to face away from the direction of their partner. Then the other partner will walk up from behind. Why do this? It helps with the element of surprise, plus we will be snapping away and capturing both peoples expressions during the first look.

4. Exchange words of love and appreciation, a small gift or even a love note!
You see, in this moment, there really is no better time than to shower your love with some special words. Take in the time to cast your gauze on your future spouse. Share with them how your feeling in the moment, express how you feel about the day! Give them a twirl, laugh, giggle and get a few rush squeezes in! Don’t worry, I’ll just be capturing the moment for you. These are the unscripted moments that you’ll cherish for many generations to come.
If you have a gift for your partner, now is a great time to exchange that gift. It will make for a special moment and allow you to witness your soon to be spouses expression and gratitude.

5. Just enjoy it!
As a wedding photographer for over 10+ years, I know that these little quiet moments during a wedding day can be some of the most incredibly magical moments. It’s your time to soak it all in and spend a little quality time together before the hustle and bustle of your big day kicks in.
Rest assured that my team and I will give you space too during this intimate moment. We won’t be photographing the entire time, I believe that couples need this time to connect with each other without distraction and direction.
